Thoughts from Everyone: Lynn, Swampscott and Salem

The “Thoughts from Everyone” series is a collection of discussions and analyses of the current system contributed by other transit fans that I personally find interesting. For a full index with ideas on all topics, see here.

This post includes discussions and analyses of transit in several cities further out to the northeast of Boston: Lynn, Swampscott, Salem, and nearby regions. Many such discussions involve the Newburyport/Rockport Line, and a proposed extension of the Blue Line.

Possible Relocation and Redevelopment of River Works Station (Newburyport/Rockport Line)

In March 2024, the City of Lynn unveiled plans to move the River Works station around 1700′ to the northeast, which I have documented here. This section describes other people’s opinions on this real-world proposal.

A lot of the discussion focused on naming of the station.
F-Line to Dudley mentioned the site of the former West Lynn station at Commercial St, ~2100′ northeast of the proposed site.
