Thoughts from Everyone: East Boston, Chelsea, Revere and Winthrop

The “Thoughts from Everyone” series is a collection of discussions and analyses of the current system contributed by other transit fans that I personally find interesting. For a full index with ideas on all topics, see here.

This post includes discussions and analyses of transit in several neighborhoods to the northeast of Boston: East Boston, Chelsea, Revere, Winthrop and nearby regions. (Some of them are considered the more nearby parts of North Shore.) Many such discussions involve the Blue Line, the Newburyport/Rockport Line, and the SL3 bus.

Revere

Possible Wonderland Commuter Rail Infill Station (Newburyport/Rockport Line)

The idea of an infill station at Wonderland on the Newburyport/Rockport Line, with connections to the Blue Line, was proposed and is being pursued by the City of Revere (citations soon). This section describes other people’s opinions on this real-world proposal.

Discussions of Wonderland CR infill (F-Line to Dudley, Mar 2024), and later comments

  • The linked comment outlines the planning process involved with the infill. A subsequent comment has slightly more elaboration.
  • F-Line’s general opinion is that, at least without Regional Rail frequencies, the connection will probably perform poorly on ridership, due to the need for an automated people mover (APM) between the stations.
