It involves new CRRC cars and upgrades to signals, Alewife crossover, Longfellow Viaduct, and yards. The program aims for Red Line trains to run every <strong>3 minutes<\/strong> on the trunk <span class=\"note\">(Alewife &#8211; JFK\/UMass)<\/span>, and <strong>6 minutes<\/strong> on each branch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Discussion of RLT&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/archboston.com\/community\/threads\/new-red-and-orange-line-cars.4678\/post-476157\" title=\"\">headways<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/archboston.com\/community\/threads\/new-red-and-orange-line-cars.4678\/post-476175\" title=\"\">signal upgrades<\/a><\/strong> <em>(F-Line to Dudley, April 2024)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>F-Line mentions the target headways of RLT, <a href=\"http:\/\/archboston.com\/community\/threads\/new-red-and-orange-line-cars.4678\/post-476175\" title=\"detailed mechanisms of signal modifications\">detailed mechanisms of signal modifications<\/a>, and how they enable better frequencies by reducing &#8220;congestion-induced slow zones&#8221;. <span class=\"note\">(The comment was written in context of the Orange Line, but the same principle applies to the Red Line.)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The &#8220;Thoughts from Everyone&#8221; series is a collection of discussions and analyses of the current system contributed by other transit fans that I personally find interesting.
